The Harvey Dent campaign took a turn for the different yesterday when a scheduled press conference was disrupted by a hostage crisis. The campaign had been planning to make a major announcement but instead Mr Dent, assessing the situation, exchanged himself for the hostage.
Cynics among you may think that this will be something for the campaign to capitalise on and show not only the bravery and suitability of Mr Dent for the position of Gotham District Attorney but also the level to which Gotham has descended with regard to crime.
The campaign website at ibelieveinharveydent.com has posted up the following notice and you can also listen to events as they unfolded below.
Today’s (13/04) press conference was unexpectedly cancelled due to a hostage crisis located at a nearby deli. In a selfless move, Mr. Dent entered the premises, exchanged himself for a woman who was being held at gunpoint, and negotiated the successful release of the remaining patrons in the restaurant. The conference was being streamed live after a series of emails from Allan Cypes, Media Manager for Harvey Dent, were sent round with the following content:
We are a group of over 100 concerned businessmen, police officers, and residents who work tirelessly for a better Gotham city. We believe in strong values, strong families, and clean government. We believe that to fight crime, we must support our brave police department, which is under attack in the streets by thugs and in the courts by corrupt prosecutors. We contribute our time and money to fight to improve our city for all of its citizens.
